1200gsm Biaxial Fibreglass Fabric 0°/90° 1200gsm | Structural Marine Fibreglass Reinforcement
Transom Rebuild | Hull Structural Repair | Stringer Replacement | Keel Repair | Heavy Laminate Construction
1200gsm Biaxial Fibreglass Fabric is a heavy-duty structural reinforcement built for marine applications where maximum strength and laminate thickness are needed in the fewest possible layers. Because fibres run at both 0° and 90°, it delivers balanced bidirectional strength — making it ideal for structural marine repairs and new build construction.
Supplied per metre with no minimum order.
Marine Applications
This is the go-to fabric for high-load structural work including full transom rebuilds, stringer replacement, keel repair, and hull structural repairs following impact or osmosis damage. It is also well suited to heavy sandwich panel skins and deck reinforcement under high-load fittings such as winches, cleats, and mast steps.
For transom rebuilds in particular, alternate 1200gsm biaxial with CSM interleaving layers. As a result, you’ll achieve a stiff, well-bonded laminate that matches or exceeds the original specification.
Key Properties
- 0°/90° fibre orientation delivers balanced in-plane stiffness and strength
- Builds laminate thickness rapidly — fewer layers, less layup time
- Stitched construction keeps fibres straight for consistent mechanical performance
- Compatible with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems
- Strong interlaminar bonding when used with CSM interleaving layers
Processing Note
At 1200gsm, thorough wet-out requires care. Apply resin to the substrate first, lay the cloth, then work additional resin through from the top before consolidating with a ribbed roller. Avoid rushing — dry spots through the thickness are the most common issue with heavy fabrics.

FAQs
Is 1200gsm biaxial suitable for a full transom rebuild? Yes — alternated with CSM interleaving layers it builds a stiff, structural laminate quickly. Contact us if you’d like advice on a laminate schedule for your transom dimensions.
What is the difference between biaxial and woven roving? Biaxial uses a stitched construction that keeps fibres straight, delivering more consistent mechanical properties than woven roving where fibres crimp at crossover points. For structural repairs, biaxial is the better choice.
Can I use this for vacuum infusion? Yes. Ensure adequate resin feed lines and flow media to achieve full wet-out through the heavy fabric.
