Combo Mat 825gsm (600BX 0/90 + 225CSM) – Per Metre | Marine Fibreglass Reinforcement
825gsm combo mat fibreglass | Transom Repair | Hull Lamination | Stringer Reinforcement | Deck Repair | Marine Panel Fabrication
The 825gsm combo mat per metre combines a 600gsm biaxial e-glass layer 0/90 with a 225gsm chopped strand mat backing in a single fabric — delivering structural reinforcement and interlaminar bonding in one pass. Because both layers laminate together simultaneously, it cuts layup time significantly on medium to heavy marine builds and repairs without sacrificing laminate quality.
Supplied per metre with no minimum order.
Why Use a Combo Mat?
Traditional laminate schedules alternate structural fabric with CSM interleaving layers to promote bonding between plies. Combo mat does both jobs at once. As a result, fabricators achieve a well-bonded, structurally sound laminate faster — with fewer individual plies to cut, position, and wet out. For production boatbuilders and busy marine repair workshops, this translates directly to time and cost savings on every job.
Marine Applications
Ideal for transom repairs and rebuilds, stringer reinforcement, hull lamination, deck repair, and structural marine panel fabrication. Because it combines biaxial structural reinforcement with a CSM bonding layer, it suits any marine application where a traditional alternating biaxial and CSM laminate schedule would otherwise apply — in fewer steps.
Key Properties
- Combines 600gsm biaxial e-glass and 225gsm CSM in a single fabric — two jobs in one pass
- Cuts layup time and reduces ply count without compromising laminate integrity
- Biaxial layer delivers bidirectional structural strength and stiffness
- CSM backing promotes strong interlaminar bonding between structural plies
- Conforms well to curved marine surfaces
- Compatible with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resin systems
- Suitable for hand layup and vacuum bagging
Processing Note
Apply resin to the substrate first, then lay the combo mat CSM-side down against the previous ply. Work resin through from the biaxial face and consolidate thoroughly with a ribbed roller. Because the CSM backing absorbs resin readily, ensure adequate resin volume for full wet-out through both layers before moving to the next ply.

FAQs
Which side goes down when laminating? Lay the CSM side against the previous ply. The CSM backing bonds to the underlying layer while the biaxial face provides the structural reinforcement for the next ply above.
Can I use combo mat for a transom rebuild? Yes — it is well suited to transom repairs and rebuilds. Because it combines structural reinforcement and bonding in one layer, it builds a stiff, well-bonded transom laminate faster than alternating individual fabrics.
Is combo mat suitable for vacuum bagging? Yes. However, ensure adequate resin volume to achieve full wet-out through both the biaxial and CSM layers before bagging.
