Unidirectional fibre S-glass tapes are most commonly used for providing local reinforcement in the direction of the fibres. The majority of the fibres are in the warp direction with a small amount in the weft to hold it together for handling. In order to add stability to the dry reinforcement, a small amount of fibre 5-6% is added to the perpendicular direction.
S-glass Fibreglass is a high performance alternative to standard Fibreglass E-glass. It is stronger and stiffer with a comparable density. S-glass Fibreglass is more expensive than E-glass but is still cheaper than Carbon Fibre. It is a good alternative for laminates requiring high strength.
